Let’s talk about scapula winging! This is a problem I have been dealing for the last three years and just find out about 6 months ago. I never knew you scapula was winging but my shoulder was giving me so much pain to the point I got a MRI on it and they found nothing. When to a new doctor and he seen where my scapula was winging on the right side. Long story short, I have been working on strengthening my serratus anterior and middle and lower traps. When the lateral ribs compress they pull the chest down causing the scapula to orient around the rib cage, away from the spine. In addition serratus can get really sticky making it hard to get a good connection to pull the shoulder blade onto the ribcage. You can massage the tissues and then breathe into the lateral ribs while laying on your side. Test your internal rotation before and after and you will be amazed how much range this opens up.
